What does Healthy Really Look Like?

Discovering what "healthy" truly feels like is a transformative journey. It's waking up with boundless energy, a body that moves effortlessly, and a mind that's clear and focused. It's feeling vibrant, confident, and deeply connected to your inner self. Healthy is not just the absence of illness; it's a state of holistic well-being where every cell in your body sings with vitality.

Healthy feels like the gentle hum of contentment, the thrill of achieving goals, and the warmth of genuine connections. It's about balance, self-love, and appreciating the incredible vessel that is your body. It's not a destination but a lifestyle, a continuous journey towards your best self.

Imagine waking up each morning with enthusiasm for the day ahead, nourishing your body with wholesome foods that fuel your passions. Picture yourself embracing challenges with resilience, knowing that your well-nurtured body and mind can overcome anything.

Embrace this journey with open arms. Start today by making small, positive choices. Every step you take towards a healthier you is a step closer to discovering what real, vibrant health feels like.

Daily drive thrus, soda-coffee orders, candy stash by my bed, sugar cravings, joint pain, skin medication, stomach issues, toss & turn sleep, naps, low immune system, popping Advil all the time for headaches, bloating and indigestion, tired all day starting when I woke up, brittle hair and nails, unhappy with the body I saw in the mirror.

Then enter gut health...everything changed.

8 years ago I watched my friend having babies the same time I was having babies - she recovered, I didn’t!

5 years ago I was at the heaviest I’d ever been without being pregnant and struggled with keeping up with life and kids, pulling back from everyone and everything.

I tried everything. The truth is if it didn’t happen fast enough, if the scale didn’t move like I thought, or if it was “too hard” I told myself the worst lie…. It just wasn’t meant to be or for me.

3.5 years ago another friend shared what she found was working for her, no promises. 3 weeks in - my husband hid the scale.

It wasn’t going to be about just losing weight this time. It had to be about learning to be disciplined, to watch what I put in my mouth and what came out of my mouth. It had to be about learning to love myself enough to not quit or give up. It had to be about me taking care of myself so that I can be the best version of myself so that I can go and do the things God is calling me to do; joyfully, full of energy and health!!!

We don’t just wake up one day unhealthy, unhappy, and hopeless. In the same way we won’t wake up healthier, happier and more hopeful overnight either. It takes time, consistency, support, encouragement, belief and lots of prayer too.

It’s not perfection that we need, it’s progress - it is finding tools and using them every single day, making the decision that today is the day - not one day. It’s about surrounding yourself with people who believe in you even when and especially when you don’t believe in yourself.

If I can do it, so can you!

From one recovering quitter/procrastinator to another; we got this!!!!
Let’s learn to love the skin we’re in together.

Because I said yes…

I can’t believe how comfortable I feel in my own skin. I haven’t felt this way in a long time, maybe ever.

When I was 17 I was diagnosed with PCOS, and gained 100lbs in a year. I want from being in shape, athletic and happy to having my world turned upside down. I had doctors tell me to just lose weight, and others tell me I’ll never be able to lose weight. I couldn’t take the medication for insulin resistance because I would become so sick I stopped eating. I was either gaining weight or maintaining my weight for the last 15 years.

I had resigned myself to always being the fat girl, the unhappy girl, the “funny girl”. You know the one that’s always single and never goes out unless it was to eat. I constantly craved carbs and sugar and never had any energy, I would have cystic acne outbreaks and let’s not even talk about my mental health.

Now, I am losing weight for the first time in 15 years, I have energy, I’m eating healthier because I want to. My skin issues have cleared up, my joints don’t hurt, and I’m happy.

I’m still a work in progress, I always will be, and that’s ok! Thanks to the tools I have been given and the opportunity I have seized I can finally say, for today I am comfortable in my own skin. I had to be truly uncomfortable to take the chances I was given and I am so glad I did.

Because we said yes!
